We believe that understanding warning signs of wheel misalignment is just as important as taking your car in for realignment. Although you may not be able to do much to find or fix this issue, understanding when something is wrong can allow you to prevent the issue from turning into a problem. Not sure what to pay attention to? The AutoStream team can help, as we introduce two common misalignment warning signs you should be wary of:
Uneven Tire Wear
If you ever suspect wheel misalignment in your vehicle, this is what you should check for first. Uneven tire wear is a classic sign of wheel misalignment and any sign of it should quickly indicate that’s the case. When inspecting the tires, make sure you look for even wear in the middle, inner wall, and outer wall of the tread. Continuing to drive with this will only hasten the wear on the tires, and it’ll eventually lead you to replace the tires one-by-one instead of altogether.
Vibrating Steering Wheel
Do you feel minor or major vibrations in the steering wheel, especially when approaching higher speeds? If so, you’re likely dealing with wheel misalignment. This occurs when two of the wheels are working against each other, likely pulling in opposite directions. This issue is not only bad for your vehicle and its tire, but it’s also dangerous for you, as the vibrations can reduce the amount of control you have.
