Authorized Maryland Vehicle Inspection Facility — AutoStream Car Care Center
Overview of the Maryland Vehicle Inspection
The Maryland Vehicle Inspection is a thorough safety inspection that checks the condition of your vehicle. It is required for drivers who 1, just moved to Maryland and your car is registered in another state, or 2, you just bought a used vehicle. If you fall into the former category, you have 60 days to pass the Maryland Vehicle Inspection and register your vehicle. If you fall into the latter category, you have 90 days to pass the Maryland Vehicle Inspection and register your vehicle; the inspection certificate must be dated within 90 days. One important thing to note is that even if the used vehicle has passed the inspection in the same year, it still needs to be reinspected. AutoStream Car Care Center in Owings Mills is certified and equipped to perform the Maryland Vehicle Inspection. This also means we are your go-to source for any questions or concerns you may have about the inspection, which we are always happy to address.
During the Maryland Vehicle Inspection, all major systems that influence a safe drive are checked: the steering, suspension, brakes, wheels, tires, electrical, fuel system, and exhaust system. For example, we inspect all brake system components and test the stopping distance, and for the wheels, we confirm the correct positioning of the camber, caster, and toe, as well as the condition of the nuts and studs and lugs. The fuel system is examined for leaks, the exhaust system for proper mounting and leaks, and the electrical for wiring, switches, and battery cables. Other components that also get checked include (but are not limited to) the speedometer and odometer, driver’s seat and safety belts, door latches, hinges and handles, and windshield wipers. You will receive a pass/fail grade upon completing the Maryland Vehicle Inspection. If you fail but get your vehicle re-inspected within 30 days and have driven it less than 1,000 miles, we only need to inspect the parts/systems that failed during the initial inspection.
AutoStream Car Care Center offers a comprehensive approach to the Maryland Vehicle Inspection. We are an authorized inspection facility, but we are also a reputable auto repair shop. If we fail your vehicle, we have the means also to fix it and then re-inspect it. Remember that if your vehicle needs to be re-inspected, it must be done by the same technician who performed the initial inspection. We can even prep your vehicle for the Maryland Vehicle Inspection by performing an inspection and diagnostics to check for any abnormalities that may be caught to prevent a failing grade. We work with cutting-edge equipment and adhere to strict guidelines to ensure accuracy with all services. On top of all that, we offer free shuttle service, a loaner car program, a lifetime warranty on nearly all services, roadside assistance, and a whole lot more.
