Wheel misalignment is a frustrating issue to deal with, especially in its worst forms. But there will be times where your vehicle is misaligned and you won’t be able to tell, and that’s where the AutoStream team can help. Here are two common misalignment issues you may experience and how to look for them.
Pulling
One of the most notable signs of wheel misalignment is when your vehicle is drifting one way or another despite having the steering wheel straight. Whether it’s a very subtle movement or you’re having to fight the steering wheel to stay straight, this common problem can jeopardize your vehicle’s safety. If you’re not sure, you can test for this by heading out to an empty, even-ground parking lot and driving slowly without touching the steering wheel. If your vehicle drifts either way while the steering wheel is straight, your vehicle is suffering from misalignment.
Uneven Tire Wear
Your vehicle’s tires should, ideally, all wear out evenly. This makes it easier to predict when they’ll need to be replaced and convenient as you’ll replace all of them at once. If you suspect wheel misalignment, check the tires and examine its wear. Does it look like the inside of the tires are wearing quicker than the outside? Is your front set of tires more worn than the backset? Do the tires have mismatching tread depth? If you see these issues, you’re likely dealing with misalignment.
