When a battery is properly charged, it should typically read at anywhere from 12.4-12.6 volts with enough reserve capacity to power a 25A load for between 9-15 hours. Once it has powered a load such as that for an extended amount of time, the voltage will drop below 10.5 volts and will likely be unable to start the car. While batteries vary and are rated to show how long they can power a specific load before dropping below critical voltage, it’s still a smart decision to avoid subjecting your car’s battery to regular usage such as is.
If you drain your car battery too much, it has the potential to damage its ability to hold a charge in the future. Extreme temperatures and everyday wear can also reduce the battery’s reserve capacity.
