Use The AC Once a Week
Although this may seem like a silly piece of advice come summertime, it’s mostly directed towards car usage in the winter. During the colder season, it’s understandable to never use or even think about your car’s AC system. Unfortunately, this lack of usage could also spell trouble for the system. Consistent usage, even just once a week, helps maintain gas pressure within the compressor to keep it working. Whenever you do have the AC running, make sure it’s operating for about 10 minutes at its highest fan speed and coldest setting.
Use Defrost For a Few Minutes
Usually when you use your car’s defrosting function, you’re using it to clear off any ice that may have solidified on the windshield. But along with that, the defroster also helps prevent mildew from growing and cleans out any excessive moisture. So regardless if it’s a frigid winter morning or a hot summer day, make sure you run the defroster for about 5 to 10 minutes every day to ensure the system stays clean and dry.
